Cervical Screening- why its so important

We are working with our Patient Participation Group to encourage eligible women to take up cervical screening invites. The test takes less than a few minutes, although the appointment is longer to give you time to discuss the process and get dressed and undressed. You will be in a room with our female nurse and can bring a chaperone or ask for one of the practices chaperones to be with you. Cervical screening is not a test for cancer. It looks for abnormal cells in the cervix. Abnormal cells can develop into cancer if left untreated, and by finding them early we can reduce the risk of cancer. More information can be found Cervical screening: helping you decide - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk), and we’ve included guides in Arabic and Bengali.
